Located in Long Island City, LaGuardia Community College is a two-year public educational institution. Its Associate of Applied Science Nursing Program under the Health Sciences Department is accredited by ACEN. Active engagement in the field with guidance from the faculty is given emphasis in the nursing programs. In terms of research engagement, the nursing program has a research conference conducted annually with the Nurses Association of the Counties of Long Island (NACLI).

Associate of Applied Science Nursing Program – With 66 total credits, this program is divided into pre-clinical and clinical phases, ensuring a balance between general education and nursing courses. Progression to the clinical phases is competitive. The curriculum aims to equip students for direct nursing care provision for clients of all ages. Aside from this, they are prepared to practice within the profession’s ethical and legal framework.

Practical Nursing Program – This 48-credit certificate program has rigorous coursework. Students are given an undergraduate Certificate in Licensed Practical/ Vocational Nurse Program upon program completion. The program can be completed in as few as 10 months with completion providing eligibility to take the NCLEX-PN licensing exam. Meanwhile, an Advanced Standing Pathway is available for Licensed Practical Nurses seeking an associate degree in nursing. Requirements include a current LPN license, TEAS entrance exam satisfactory score, and a GPA of 2.75 or better, among others.
