Albany State University

Located in Albany, Georgia, ASU’s School of Nursing is a public institution that offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees to students interested in nursing. While the majority of programs are offered at an associate or bachelor’s level, there are also opportunities available for earning an Online Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator MSN Programs.

The first two years (or pre-licensure) of the five-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program take place at Albany State University. During the third and fourth years, students complete on-the-job training while simultaneously enrolled in courses offered through Mercer University’s Atlanta campus. The final two years are completed exclusively at ASU.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) is a four-year program at Albany State University. The first two years of the curriculum, also known as the pre-licensure or predegree semester, are completed through ASU. During the remaining two years, students attend Mercer University for clinical rotations and courses. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure examination in Georgia.

The Master of Science in Nursing degree program is offered at four levels: MSN-Health Specialties, MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner, and a blended option for both programs. Students who choose this route will complete coursework online but

In Darton College of Health Professions, students have the opportunity to experience a diverse mix of courses in liberal arts, science, and nursing. They are also able to gain ample education and practical hospital experience that prepares them for a career in healthcare.

Located in Albany, Oregon, Linn-Benton Community College is a public institution that has a three-year average NCLEX-RN passing rate of more than 90%. The LBCC Nursing Program prepares students for a rewarding career in nursing by teaching current evidence-based concepts and competencies in nursing theory and practice, developing clinical and critical thinking skills, and instilling a strong work ethic, particularly in the areas of safe and culturally sensitive patient care, accuracy, professionalism, and continuing education.

LBCC uses an on-campus Nursing Skills Lab with human simulation manikins and scenarios where students are introduced to real-life medical scenarios. Students are provided with practical knowledge. The students are also given the opportunities to participate in clinical practice in multiple healthcare agencies within a 20-40 mile radius of the campus. The college has an 8:1 student to staff ratio policy which ensures that the students get the individualized quality education necessary to excel in the rigorous nursing curriculum that LBCC puts forward. Students are allocated to work one-on-one with a nurse preceptor in the sixth term and begin the process of taking full responsibility for the patients in their care. These programs are designed to prepare students to apply their knowledge and skills to build a career in the health care sector. Graduates are prepared to work in hospitals, clinics, schools, and other healthcare settings.

Undergraduate Programs: Every year in the fall, the classes for the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing begin. Students get the chance to practice in clinical facilities right from the beginning of the first term of enrolment.

The LBCC Nursing Program has an articulation agreement with Linfield School of Nursing and Bushnell University for students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing (formerly known as Northwest Christian University).

Located in Albany, NY, the Memorial College of Nursing  is an affiliate of St. Peter’s Health Partners and offers an ADN program that’s ACEN accredited, as well as an LPN advanced placement option. It operates independently on the campus of Maria College. Core pillars of the program are maximizing human well-being, professionalism, a spirit of inquiry, and fine-tuned nursing judgment. There’s an emphasis placed on patient population diversity, and instilling a sense of cultural awareness, sensitivity to specific patient needs, as well as the nurse’s professional identity and inter-team conduct.

There’s a small student body, providing students with more one-on-one attention from the school’s highly skilled and dedicated faculty. The Memorial College of Nursing fosters a strong and supportive community of prospective nurses, and also provides ample clinical practice as  the school is located closely to St. Peter’s Hospital, a large-volume nearby facility. Students may enroll twice a year, in the fall and in the spring.

Maria College of Albany

Maria College is a private Catholic school in Albany, NY. They offer an ADN program, as well as an RN to BSN program, and both are ACEN accredited. The campus has a 6,500 square foot nursing teaching and learning facility, providing students with simulated patient-care experiences and hands-on learning. Maria College’s ADN program prepares students for a career in the nursing field by laying a foundation of general education and clinical experience. The program does offer different options for attendance, providing access to traditional and non-traditional students. Students may choose evening or daytime sessions. The program has a small student to teacher ratio, which allows students to receive personal development and guidance as they work through the curriculum.

The RN to BSN program can be completed on a full time or part time basis, and is designed for RNs who want to further develop their knowledge and career prospects. They also offer reduced tuition rates for RNs who work at partnered healthcare institutions.
