Bachelor of Science in Nursing - This baccalaureate program in nursing prepares students for the NCLEX-RN and for future advanced nursing studies. Nursing foundation and concept and theory introduction are focused on the first year. By the second year, clinical nursing skills are developed with practices conducted in the School’s Skills Laboratory. By the third year in the program, students will be immersed in clinical care experiences conducted in acute care facilities. By the fourth year, focus is shifted to care provision for patients experiencing complex illnesses.
Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN (ABSN) - Individuals who possess a non-nursing baccalaureate degree and are seeking a career change can enroll in this Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN. Upon graduation, students are prepared to sit in the licensing exam and/or pursue graduate studies.
RN Options - BSN or BSN with Early Admission to MSN or DNP - This RN-Options Program allows students to have an opportunity of obtaining either an RN to BSN or BSN with early admission to MSN/DNP. This allows a seamless transition to advanced nursing studies. In terms of the curriculum, hands-on learning is given emphasis.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) - With part-time and full-time options available, students seeking an MSN degree from the University of Pittsburgh may choose from these two specialty roles: Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) and Nursing Informatics. Both roles are offered online and on-campus.
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) - This DNP program has several tracks that students can choose from. The said tracks are: Clinical Nurse Specialist, Health Systems Executive Leadership, Nurse Anesthesia, Nurse-Midwife, and Nurse-Practitioner. All of these tracks can be taken in either a part-time or full-time study with entry for baccalaureate and master’s-prepared nurses.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) - Being research-focused in nature, this rigorous program requires a dissertation as one of the requirements for obtaining the degree. An entry is available for baccalaureate-prepared students through BSN to PhD. An MSN to PhD entry option is also offered for master’s-prepared applicants.
