University of Louisiana at Lafayette

University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Department of Nursing under its College of Nursing & Allied Health Professions provides hands-on experience for a world-class quality education. UL Lafayette is named after its location, Lafayette, Louisiana.

Nursing (Pre-Licensure BSN) - This four-year pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has a total of 120 credit hours. It provides students with a blend of clinical practice, nursing theory and leadership to enrich their academic experience and prepare them for careers as a registered nurse. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN).

RN to BSN Online - For registered nurses who possess a diploma or associate degree, a BSN degree can be obtained in just 12 months through this RN to BSN program. This 30-credit hour accelerated and flexible program is offered online with 8-week courses to cater working individuals. Students will have access to an Academic Success Hub online community and specialize online orientation. Online library services and tutoring, as well as 24/7 technical support is also available. This program is CCNE-accredited. Moreover, qualified students can avail of financial aid.

Master of Science in Nursing - For students who would like to advance their practice in various health care settings, UL Lafayette offers three concentration tracks for the CCNE-accredited MSN program—Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education, and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The curriculum focuses on providing evidence-based healthcare in various settings. Aside from this program’s full approval from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, it is also offered in affiliation with the Intercollegiate Consortium for a Master of Science in Nursing (ICMSN).

Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular Nursing - UL Lafayette is the only university in Louisiana which offers this Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular Nursing. It is a 12- credit hour program which consists of 4-credit hour clinical experiences and 8-credit hour online classes. It can be completed in six months.

Doctor of Nursing Practice – DNP - Two entry paths are available for this program—the BSN and the Post-Master’s DNP option. Master’s level clinical hours completion should be in Louisiana for the former path. The curriculum places emphasis on evidence-based practice to prepare program graduates to become advanced practice nurses or nurse executives.
