Florida Atlantic University Nursing Programs - NCLEX Passing Rates and Program Rankings

The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton has the goal to become the international preeminent leader in advancing caring science through dynamic, innovative caring-based education, research, scholarship, and practices within an environment of inclusiveness. Its nursing programs are ACEN, ACME, CCNE and COA accredited. There are several components of the public institution. The Louis and Anne Green Memory & Wellness Center, opened in 2001 to meet the complex needs of persons with memory disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease. The Center actively participates in the state network of 16 Memory Disorder Clinics. The FAU Community Health Center is adjacent to Westgate Elementary School in West Palm Beach. Advanced practice nurses work in collaboration with other healthcare providers in the community with a focus on providing diabetes self-management. 

 Undergraduate Programs - Nursing students can enter a BSN program, an RN to BSN program and a freshmen direct admit program for high school seniors. The program entails practicum experiences for students of nursing, medicine, social work, exercise science, communication disorders, health administration, and other disciplines. Clinical experiences take place in local hospitals and community settings to serve diverse populations. For pre-licensure students, a total of 840 hours of clinical and laboratory experience is required. BSN graduates are prepared as general clinical practitioners and scholars.

Graduate Programs – to deepen one’s study and invest in the future, the school offers a BSN to DNP, BSN to PhD, Doctor of Nursing, Master, MSN to DNP, and a Post Master's NP Certificate. There are full or part-time curricula covering leadership, clinical experience and teaching skills. The Doctor of Nursing Practice program focuses on the delivery of advanced practice nursing (APN) to culturally diverse populations. The Institute of Medicine (IOM, 2003) and the National Research Council of the National Academies (2005) have called for a nursing education that prepares graduates for practice with interdisciplinary, information systems, quality improvement, and patient safety expertise. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing recommends 1000 clinical practicum hours to develop practice skills and test new models of care.

There are specific areas of interest: Healthy Aging Across the Lifespan, Health Equity, Holistic Health and Transforming Healthcare Environments. Graduate will become experts in the caring science that underpins the advanced nursing discipline.
