Best ADN Programs in California for Aspiring Nurses
We ranked the Best ADN Nursing Programs in California, based on criteria such as first-time NCLEX passing rates over the past three years, program accreditation, cost, and more.
In the land of opportunity, California offers a solid foundation for those seeking a career in nursing through Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs. As the nursing shortage persists, an ADN presents a cost-effective and time-efficient path to entering the profession.
With a thriving job market and a vast array of educational options, California is the perfect place to start your nursing career. Find the best ADN programs in California here..
ADN programs, which typically take about two years to complete, focus on the essential skills and knowledge needed for nursing practice. In contrast, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four-year degree covering a wider range of nursing topics, including theory, research, and leadership.
While a BSN can lead to advanced roles and higher degree levels, an ADN offers a more accessible and affordable option for those who wish to become Registered Nurses (RNs) without pursuing further education.
An important factor to consider is the return on investment (ROI). ADN graduates can earn competitive salaries similar to those of BSN graduates, despite the shorter duration and lower cost of their education.
This makes ADN programs an attractive choice for many. However, if you plan to advance your degree beyond a bachelor’s and pursue higher-level nursing roles, a BSN is the preferred option.
Pursuing an ADN in California offers numerous advantages for those starting their nursing careers. With a wide range of educational opportunities, competitive salaries, and a robust job market, it’s an excellent time to consider an ADN in the Golden State.

P. Shreffler started her nursing career in 2010 as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). After working for almost five years she decided it was time to go back to college and further her education. In June of 2015 she passed her NCLEX on the first attempt and can finally put that RN behind her name! Her background has been in the long-term care setting for these past 5 years with a small amount of experience in acute care during RN school. I am excited at where my career may take me and I enjoy knowing that I may make the difference in many, many lives down the road!
