Undergraduate programs – students can accelerate their BSN nursing degree if they have a bachelor’s in another field. The fast-track format was designed to build upon previous learning and professional experience, allowing students to complete a BSN in just about 12 months. The intensive, short-term program is a mix of theory and clinical education, imparting both the knowledge and skills needed to transition to a new career. The accelerated programs are offered at the Oakland, Sacramento, and the San Francisco peninsula campus in San Mateo. They offer summer, fall, and spring application periods.

Graduate programs – Graduate degrees at Samuel Merritt University range from an entry level Master of Science in Nurse – either in case management or as a nurse practitioner – or a standard MSN for both majors. There is an online Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Doctorate for a family nurse practitioner for advanced, experienced students. Courses are offered at the Oakland San Francisco campuses.

San Diego State University’s nursing students are unique. They train in state-of-the-art facilities, study and travel all over the world, and participate in research. Many elect to join the SDSU-SNA – Student Nurses Association. Among the academic programs are a BS in Nursing, an RN to BSN track, an MS in Nursing, and LVN to RN. The School of Nursing was established as a baccalaureate program within San Diego State University in 1953, with a Master’s was added in 1982. The faculty is committed to providing excellent learning opportunities for graduate students within an intellectually stimulating environment incorporating clinical practice, research, and service to the University and the community. The baccalaureate and Master’s degrees in nursing are accredited by the by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Undergraduate programs – Students in the undergraduate nursing program acquire knowledge from the natural and social sciences. In the six-semester (three years) BSN track, they hone and develop critical thinking and professional decision-making abilities, utilize current research in the application of the nursing process, develop leadership potential and accountability in professional practice, become aware of the emerging roles of the professional nurse and of the social forces and trends affecting health and health care systems. They also learn to balance professional and personal growth and values. Students enjoy the exceptional media lab, nursing fundamental skills lab and Sharp Healthcare Human Patient Simulation Lab.

The undergraduate pre-licensed Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is available to incoming freshman admitted via Direct-Entry, transfer students from approved community colleges and four-year institutions, and second baccalaureate students. Additionally, graduates of Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs and Diploma in Nursing programs may continue their studies to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree via the RN to BSN program. If offered admission, second bachelor’s degree students will complete 55 units in nursing coursework. General Education coursework is not required and students do not have to complete the International Experience requirement.

Turlock, a scenic town in Central California, is home to Stanislaus State University that operates as an open university with two campuses. While well known for business administration, teacher education, the School of Nursing offers an accelerated BDSN at the Stockton location. All have had positive learning outcomes. The pre-licensure nursing track leads to the Bachelor of Science degree. Incoming freshmen should have taken high school chemistry and biology with a lab, and at least three years of college prep math. Transfer students must adhere to CSU transfer policies. Nursing-bound students will indicate “Nursing (Pre-Nursing)” when applying. It is a competitive program with a supplemental criterion for permission to enroll. The faculty is well-versed in healthcare trends and technologies.

Undergraduate programs – The Accelerated Second Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASBSN) program is designed for people who hold a baccalaureate degree in a field other than nursing and are aspiring to become registered nurses. There are ten weeks of courses taken over seventeen months for 59 total credits. The degree, requiring hands-on experience, is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Graduates will be able to integrate the knowledge, theories, and methods of various disciplines to inform decision-making. The goal is to promote quality care and patient safety while applying leadership skills in healthcare settings. They have skill in using patient care technologies, information systems and communication devices that support safe nursing practice for all populations.

Undergraduate programs – The school does not offer a traditional BSN. The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (A-BSN) is a fast-paced program for those who already hold a bachelor’s degree (in any field). Graduates of this 15-month track can become registered nurses (RNs). About four consecutive semesters are needed complete the courses required for licensure. Students learn to assess, restore, maintain, promote, and evaluate patients’ health while they serve families, groups, communities and populations in a variety of healthcare settings Nursing courses include classroom instruction and clinical laboratories in patient care settings. Students receive regular one-on-one and group counseling by the program director on a regular basis. Hands-on experience is essential. Thus, students find suitable placement at hospitals and clinical facilities in the greater Los Angeles area. This allows them to focus on learning the methods, principles and practices of nursing, without worrying about logistics.

At its accelerated pace, the A-BSN program meets the objectives of those interested in a career in nursing and health care. It gives students the knowledge they needed to jump into the field fully equipped with the confidence, training and experience to make a real difference. CSUN A-BSN graduates are working as direct care providers, school nurses, public health nurses, managers, staff educators and clinical instructors in schools. Many have pursued graduate degrees and are now nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, faculty, administrators and clinical specialists.

It seeks to educating ethically and culturally-sensitive nursing students with the goal of alleviating suffering while promoting, preserving, and restoring dignity for all patients.

The mission of the School of Nursing is to offer innovative models of instruction, generates cutting edge research and creative activities, and advocates for health care needs in diverse local, regional, and global communities. Of note, two Cal State San Marcos faculty members in the School of Nursing have received a grant of $1.33 million to help further build the pipeline of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners in California. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Undergraduate programs – Cohorts enter the ABSN in the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms and enjoy the same professional support network together. The fast-paced, 24-month additional Bachelor’s is for students who hold a degree in a discipline outside of nursing and have not completed any LVN or RN coursework.

Students will earn approximately 78 semester units of study in both didactic and clinical coursework under expert guidance and using the best resources available. Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University San Marcos. Many go on to earn an MS in nursing, available on campus.

CSUSM has an RN to BSN program. It is an accelerated, online format designed for registered nurses. This fully-online program gives nurses the opportunity to earn their BSN in just 14 months. According to registerednursing.org, CSUSM’s RN to BSN program has been ranked #1 online RN to BSN program in California and #5 online RN to BSN program in the United States

Mount St Mary’s University-Los Angeles

It is a picturesque drive up the hill to Mt. Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles. Students at this women’s college will enjoy the scenic vistas as they prepare for their degree in nursing. Established in 1925, Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU) is nationally recognized for its academic programs and focus on preparing the next generation of citizen leaders. The traditional baccalaureate program is offered at the Chalon Campus in west Los Angeles. Associate, weekend, accelerated and graduate programs are offered at the Doheny Campus near downtown Los Angeles. MSMU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The following special commissions and boards have accredited specific programs at MSMU: the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Undergraduate programs – Students are encouraged to apply online to the ABSN program for students already holding a Bachelor’s degree. The Accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing (AccBSN) Program is the same curriculum design as the Baccalaureate Nursing Program (BSN), follows the same philosophy, and students meet the stated objectives. The program is completed within one year over three consecutive semesters. In short, it is a rigorous program of study. The AccBSN program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Undergraduate programs – the fast track at National University is the accelerated ABSN. It is a varied and intense program that in addition to the traditional courses, entails recording patient medical histories and symptoms, giving patients medicines and treatments, and setting up plans for patient care or contributing to existing plans. Students carefully make observations to share with doctors. They may operate and monitor state-of-the-art medical equipment and assist in performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results. The curriculum incudes effective ways to teach patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries. Graduates will develop critical thinking, communication, and therapeutic nursing skills within the framework of transcultural nursing. To finish faster, students can take four-week-long classes with evening and week-end options on campus, or they may choose an online format.

Fairfield University is an private, Connecticut based institution that offers an accelerated bachelor’s degree program in nursing. This accredited program is accelerated, designed to help you earn your BSN degree and enter the nursing workforce more quickly than traditional undergraduate degrees.

There are two ways to apply for this program:

1. You can transfer from another college with a bachelors degree in another field, and start the nursing program with 60 or more credits already complete (Contact [email protected])

2. Enter CSU Connecticut as an undergrad student for 2 years and then switch over to the accelerated BS-Nursing track (This option will require you to have completed all prerequisites).

The Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies offers a shorter nursing program that only takes about 15 months to complete. You will need to complete all the required pre-requisites before you can get into this program. The school offers financial aid for students who qualify, so it is less expensive for them. The school also provides career counseling and advice for students transitioning into nursing.

Quinnipiac University offers a nursing program that is CCNE accredited. The program is designed to be completed on the accelerated track, allowing you to earn your BSN in just one year of coursework

The accelerated BSN program at Quinnipiac University requires only a bachelor’s degree or 60 undergraduate credits as an upper-level transfer student, which can often be earned concurrent with the nursing classes. Students must still take a standardized entrance exam and pass it in order to graduate from this CCNE accredited program

Students complete more than 300 hours of practicum experience and develop a strong theoretical foundation in all health care settings. There are several areas of concentration available, including adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner and pediatric

  • January Start, Hybrid Option: The January start hybrid program blends lab and clinical experience with online learning, perfect for adult learners with limited weekday availability.

  • August Start, On-Campus Program: The on-campus program begins in August with a more traditional schedule to provide course delivery and clinical experiences.

The Accelerated Second Degree (ASD) in nursing at University of Saint Joseph is for students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree in another discipline. Students in the ASD program are awarded a Bachelor of Science degree upon completion of Nursing academic requirements.

Graduates of the ASD program will then be eligible to take the National Council licensing examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (NCLEX).

The ASD program is a very intense and fast- paced curriculum.  In order to succeed, students must be self-directed be learners who can manage time effectively and efficiently.

Students complete all Nursing courses over 15 months (two summers and one full academic year – May through August). Nurse students also have the opportunity to study in USJ’s state-of-the-art facilities alongside highly qualified Nursing faculty.

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program provides an alternative route for students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree and are interested in becoming nurses. Students must meet all the requirements, but need not take prerequisite courses as long as they can demonstrate that their previous degrees cover them.

The School of Nursing offers accelerated programs for people with non-nursing undergraduate degrees to become professional nurses faster than traditional baccalaureate or graduate nursing programs allow. The Accelerated BSN track is designed specifically for those individuals looking to enter this field without prior experience; candidates do need prerequisites so long as it has been demonstrated through transcripts or other documentation that they took equivalent coursework during their undergraduate studies at some point before enrolling

After being accepted into the accelerated BSN program, students are enrolled in 15 credit hours per semester. This means that by enrolling each May and graduating at the end of July (approximately 15 months), they complete their nursing degree in four semesters.

Because of the program’s limited slots, admission is competitive and may be affected by several factors such as prerequisite course grades, CGPA, CNA certification, essay quality, and clinical experience. Completion of the unsatisfied general education requirements are waived given that a student possesses a bachelor’s degree with a CGPA of 2.5 or better.

Aside from the classroom sessions, students will also have hands-on experiences on patient care through Hackensack Meridian Health, GCU’s partner institution for ten years. In fact, its partner is the largest healthcare provider in New Jersey and has more than seven locations where students can perform clinical rotations.

To be admitted to the program, a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in his/her baccalaureate degree.  Graduates of A.B.S.N are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). With 62 credits which can be taken in a span of 14 months, graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). The accelerated course can be taken at Seton Hall University’s two campuses—Georgian Court Campus at Lakewood, and Interprofessional Health Science Campus in Nutley. Classes start this fall and spring respectively.

The curriculum is based on an evidence-based approach, and uses a blend of classroom learning and laboratory skills. Financial, legal and cultural aspects of healthcare are some of the areas of study included. Applications of learnings are ensured through simulations and hands-on experiences using up-to-date facilities and actual patient care in various clinical settings.  Morristown Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and St. Michael’s Medical Center are some of the clinical sites for hands-on immersion.

This 15-month accelerated fast track nursing program is for those students who already hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Students who possess Associate’s Degree rather than baccalaureate degree will not be accepted in the program. To be accepted, the student must have a CGPA of 3.0 or better in his/her bachelor’s degree, and without a grade of C- or below in the nursing prerequisite courses. He or she must also file his application between September 1 to October 1 every year. Acceptance is on a merit basis—the higher the GPA and the more prerequisites held, the better the chances of getting accepted compared to other candidates. In terms of faculty and facilities, it has more than 100 full-time faculty members with roughly 200 sites for clinical immersion.

One of the programs offered under the SON is the Second-Degree BS Curriculum. It is a full-time 14-month program which allows students who possess a baccalaureate degree in another field to pursue a degree in nursing. To be admitted, a candidate must have a GPA of 3.3 or better on a 4.0 scale on his/her previous degree from an accredited university or college.  He or she must also have certification from healthcare providers on basic life support, and must complete the course prerequisites. Emphasis is given on the applicant’s science grades. No interviews and letters of recommendation are needed; with the latter not accepted nor reviewed if submitted. International students are also not eligible for program admission. The slots are limited hence, admissions are reviewed thoroughly to ensure that the best students get the slots.

Its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N) degree program includes laboratory and clinical immersion along with its liberal arts curricular foundation. It is also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). With small class sizes of 12:1 student to faculty ratio, attention is given to the needs of each student.

The B.S.N program is composed of four entrance tracks. Track I is for second degree students, or those who have a non-nursing B.S. or B.A degree but would want to enter the nursing profession. It is composed of 88 credit units, with 25 credits for prerequisites.  To be admitted to the program, a recommendation letter and official transcript from the previous school attended is required along with the filled in application form, personal essay and a resume. A GPA of at least 3.5 is also a must with a B or higher grade in the nursing prerequisites. The application, and supporting document submission is on February 22 and March 1 respectively.

In terms of the curriculum, modern practice is ensured through the program’s embedded simulation activities. Students are also trained to provide healthcare to a diverse population through exposure to various community centers.  A background check on the student’s criminal history is required before placement to these clinical agencies.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degrees are specifically designed for second-degree students who have already achieved a degree and then want to pursue a nursing career. The curriculum is delivered over the course of 12 months (January through December.)

The course work is challenging and demanding. This entry option of the Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is designed for full-time study Monday through Friday and may also include nights and weekends. Students expect to not work during this year of study, so they can devote their time fully to exam preparation with a goal toward taking the NCLEX-RN, which is required to become a registered nurse.

Accelerated Option, B.S.N. program offered by North Carolina Central University is designed to allow students to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing in about 14-15 months assuming they already have another four year undergraduate degree. Throughout the curriculum, the student will learn the skills and knowledge needed for professional nursing practice in a variety of health care settings. The curriculum provides knowledge and skills needed to function as an effective professional nurse, including critical thinking, decision making, communication, leadership, and high-tech procedure competencies.

Students who have completed a minimum of 126 semester hours with an average GPA of 80 on all nursing courses are eligible for our accelerated bachelor’s degree. Students who do not meet the requirements and fail a nursing course will have one opportunity to retake it before they are terminated from the program.

Queens University of Charlotte offers two pre-licensure tracks for students to earn their BSN– the traditional track and the accelerated ABSN.

Applicants to the program must have completed prerequisites in order to gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for entry into the nursing profession. Students may earn distinction in the areas of research and clinical service. The accelerated track prepares graduates for generalist nursing practice across a range of pre-licensure competencies. Specific “RN-Only” courses build on the RNs’ educational and professional experience after attaining an associate degree. Students attend all nursing courses online and receive individual academic advisement. They all experience exposure to patient care in a state-of-the-art Simulation Lab. The degree can be completed in as little as 2.5 semesters. Students select a mentor within their place of employment to mentor them through all practicum assignments. This requirement mandates that students meet with their mentor weekly and work together to create a project for their assignment/course. A transfer student has 12 or more transferable credits from another college or university and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Only students living in authorized states are eligible to enroll in the UTEP RN-to-BSN program.

Prior to admission, per-nursing students are required to take a standardized entrance exam, typically in their sophomore year. Of note, it enjoys over 200 Houston clinical affiliations, including all agencies in the Texas Medical Center and many in the broader community. these clinical agencies, including community outpatient clinics and the offices of private practitioners provide students with the required clinical experience. Akin to an accelerated track is the Pacesetter BSN, an entry to practice degree program for students looking to become a registered nurse. The program is fast-paced with students completing the program in 15 months. All theory courses take place in the first three semester after which the student undergoes an intense fourth semester of full-time clinic experience. Students from the start work in simulation labs. The accelerated track for veterans pertains to applicants with prior military medical training. The VBSN track is open to veterans from all branches of the service. The program builds on prior experience with a system of assessment that allows for advanced placement based on demonstration of knowledge and skill. The track  is available in Odessa, Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Lubbock, San Antonio, and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Bellin College was founded in 1909 and has grown to become one of Wisconsin’s premier private, not-for-profit nursing and medical imaging colleges. the College’s BSN is a fast-track program designed for applicant with at least a 3.0 GPA at least 12 credits that meet the stated requirements of 56 credits in general education that comprise the natural and social sciences, humanities, and general electives. They can earn their second degree in 15 months or seven consecutive 8-week sessions. There are two start dates: January and June with completion in May or October of the subsequent year.

The program has a focused curriculum, extensive hands-on practice, leadership and service learning. It adheres to the values of excellence, integrity, community, and caring. The facilities are state of the art and the small class sizes allow students to know their professors. In fact, the student-to-faculty ratio is 14:1. The Bellin College BSN, along with the MSN, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

There are several other options. The BSN Traditional Option is for students with a high school diploma at the time of enrollment. Traditional students begin as freshmen and complete the degree in four years. The Junior Transfer Option is also available. Students begin the program in the summer (two online nursing courses) and graduate in two years. Students succeed academically and professionally with an emphasis on leadership and management. However they enter, graduates are all in high demand.

Students are taught by clinical faculty rather than preceptors. The clinical experiences take place at regional hospitals. Of note, the NCLEX passage rate is consistently at the top of nursing schools in the state. They hold a BA or BS from any accredited institution having completed general coursework in math and life sciences (including organic biochemistry). The program in the Ruehlow Nursing Complex is a technology-rich experiential learning and simulation center that trains the nurses of tomorrow.

Both the baccalaureate degree program in nursing and the master’s degree program in nursing at Milwaukee School of Engineering are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and rank at the top of all such programs in the state. Students accepted into the Direct Entry MSN program will complete their accelerated BSN and be directly admitted into either MSN program: MSN Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or MSN Leadership & Management.

Graduates go on to the military and find immediate employment as nurses are in high demand. The coursework of the B.S. in Nursing focuses on information literacy and communication within the social sciences. Anatomy and physiology are included along with statistics, developmental psychology, microbiology, and nutrition. Required are clinical (≈ 750 hours) and lab hours (≈ 200 hours), plus participation in at least 20 simulations. Ethics is fundamental to preparedness as a professional nurse. UW Oshkosh’s undergraduate nursing program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
