SUNY Downstate Medical Center
SUNY Downstate is a public medical school and hospital. It is located in Brooklyn, NY and offers a CCNE accredited accelerated BSN and RN to BSN program. Due to their location within a hospital, they offer an inter-professional, collaborative learning environment where students receive education from highly qualified faculty and can take advantage of an extensive network of clinical affiliations. The nursing division’s mission statement is “to influence healthcare and health outcomes and promote equity for all populations by educating current and future diverse, nurse leaders who are at the forefront in the delivery of outstanding care and contribute to the advancement of the discipline of nursing.”
The accelerated BSN program is 15-months long and is designed for those who hold a degree in a non-nursing field. The program emphasis illness prevention, population health, evidence-based practice and research, as well as collaboration within organizational leadership structures. Students may enroll in the fall and in the spring.
