University of Holy Cross

Located in New Orleans, Louisiana, University of Holy Cross (UHS) was founded in 1916 and was initially called Our Lady of Holy Cross College. This inclusive university which has its roots in the Marianite Sisters is SACSCOC-accredited to award its associate, baccalaureate and master’s degrees. Its Department of Nursing (DON) has 30 years of experience in developing excellent nurse leaders through quality, evidence-based practice education.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing – This ACEN-accredited program can be completed within 6 semesters upon admission.  Core courses are focused on the freshman level while nursing courses are concentrated in the junior and senior year. Each clinical nursing course requires a practicum.

Aside from the caring atmosphere, students also get to conduct hands-on experiences and observation from UHC clinical affiliates. Among these are the Ochsner Medical Center Hospitals, East Jefferson General Hospital, Northlake Behavioral Health System, and the Children’s Hospital New Orleans.

UHC also has a Student Nurses Association (SNA) wherein student nurses can listen to various guest speakers in the field of nursing. This professional organization enhances not only student’s knowledge but professional connection as well. Program graduates are expected to provide professional, holistic, and safe nursing care in a diverse society.
