Dual Degree in Nursing and Health Care Management - Students who want to both be dental hygienists and health care managers may wish to pursue the dual degree option. Students are able to declare this major upon acceptance and enrollment in the Baptist School of Dental Hygiene program. These students need to meet certain requirements:
Family Nurse Practitioner - The Master of Science (MSN) in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) prepares professional registered nurses for APN roles as culturally competent primary providers who serve clients, families and communities.
Coursework and clinical experiences emphasize the care of adult, pediatric and geriatric patients. Post BSN students enrolled in the program will take 47 credit hours with 585 hours of clinical experience. Students possessing an MSN may qualify for up to 9 hours of transfer content recognition but will still need to complete 585-hour requirement for total clinical hour requirements
Post-Master's Certificate - Registered nurses who hold a master's degree in nursing are eligible for admission. The core courses and experiences in the generic MSN program will be evaluated to determine equivalency to the required post master's certificate. Upon completion of the required courses, students have a choice to take the Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.
